NV Legislature Redistricting Study Committee
The ‘Committee to Conduct an Interim Study of the Requirements for Reapportionment and Redistricting in the State of Nevada’ (SCR9, 2019) was established to:
- Study reapportionment and redistricting
- Make recommendations to the 2021 Legislature using 2020 Census data
The full Nevada Legislature meets every two years for a four month Regular Session. The pandemic delayed the 2020 Census, which delayed the work of the Redistricting Committee. The 2021 Nevada State Legislature’s Regular Session came and went, ending on June 1st at 12:13 AM, without the opportunity to finalize redistricting decisions for 2021.
The Committee continued to do its work after the Regular Session had ended, using Zoom meetings to complete its business.
The Committee held four meetings which included public comment as well as testimony from subject matter experts on Nevada law, the U.S. Census process, and redistricting.
Committee meeting dates:
- Monday, January 27, 2020 9:30 AM
- Wednesday, May 27, 2020 9:30 AM
